| I stopped home over lunch and could see that the second part
of the wall was being started. |

 |
The foundation was sealed today--that means I can schedule
an installation date for the living room carpet! |
| I think the wall looks so cool. I'm still
trying to picture it with plantings around it, but even without them yet, I
know I'm going to like this much better than the hill I've been living with
for 9 years! |

 |

You can see the drainage tile (why is tubing called tile?) coming out at the
far end of the wall--directing water away from the house. |

I took this looking down from where the top of the steps will be. |

This is the back of the wall, which won't be seen, of course, since it's a
retaining wall. |

From the side, looking along what will be the top of the wall.
 |

There will be a planting bed where the dirt is.
 |

I took this one just because I like heavy equipment so much! |
| The side of the house is all torn up, which is fine, since
none of those plants are worth saving. The kids are worried about the
grass, but I've assured them that all will be well--the more of those
plantings that are removed, the better.

The guys who are working on the wall said they told their
boss he didn't need to stop by the job site--he could just check the website
to see their progress! |
